Wayne Cullum - Associate Pastor
Hey! I’m Wayne, and I am married to Becca. We are proud parents of Finn (aged 14, human) and pawrent to Wilber (short for Wilberforce, as in William Wilberforce, a 6 year old Border Terrier doggo). Fun fact - he and I share the same birthday!
We all grew up in the UK and this is our first time living abroad as we follow the adventure that God has called us to for this next season! Having been on quite a long journey over the last few years that has helped me learn that listening to, trusting in and then following the ongoing invitations from God to partner with him is 100% the best plan, I am SO excited to see what He is going to do in us and with us and through us here at Bread, and here in LA. I am passionate about life long discipleship to Jesus, investing into and growing discipleship communities and developing and equipping Spirit filled and fuelled leaders within the Church and beyond. I long for (and love to see glimpses of) Church as a place where everyone can belong, everyone can encounter the transformative power of Jesus, everyone can grow and learn and discover their potential in God and everyone can thrive as the person they were created to be in the places and communities God has called them to.
I love meeting new people, so let me know if you are down for a chat - especially if you can recommend a good place for a flat white!
Likes:
A GOOD flat white, or a refreshing cold brew in the sunshine / Being surprised by something (in a good way!) / The headspace a run offers / Unexpected encounters with God in the day to day / Pistachio ice cream / Salted caramel flavour everything else / Discovering and exploring a new place / Escaping into a good book / Being by the coast / The buzz of a city / Creativity (doing it, or seeing others expressions of it, in all its forms!) / An Old Fashioned, or a Whiskey Sour / Pointing people to God and seeing Him show up for them / When a plan comes together / An epic music festival (Glastonbury is top of my list so far) / Rollercoasters - the more extreme the better! / Meeting someone new and discovering what makes them tick / A good walk with the dog / Enchiladas/Nachos/Guacamole/Tacos - anything Mexican really / Cheering other people on / Being transported somewhere else by a good theatre production
DISLIKES:
A BAD flat white / Being bored / Long periods of waiting / Time differences (they confuse me!) / Movies where animals talk as if they were human (except the Lion King - that’s ok!) / Feeling stuck / Breaches of basic human rights / Bananas / Flattening cardboard boxes for recycling / The smell of nail varnish / Admin / Being late (especially if it involves someone else) / Running out of Earl Grey tea / Having to use a wet towel / Not having the right charging cable
