Meditate.

We know we’re not all at the same starting place when it comes to a meditation practice but we passionately believe that it’s a discipline God encourages us to employ. Scroll down for some audio files of guided meditations that Hannah has produced (if you’re new to this, there’s an introduction guide that will be a great place to start), and some other exercises and ideas.

Pray

the

Ignatian Way

St Ignateous Loyola developed specific exercises as meditations, prayers, and contemplative practices.

Step-by-step instructions can be found here: Ignatian Prayer

Tips on Developing a Mindful Meditative Practice:

  1. Make some time. Deal with other potential distractions. You could use white noise or some relaxing, repetitive music.

  2. Find a relaxed, comfortable position. Sitting comfortably or lying down.

  3. Notice and relax your body. Try to notice the shape of your body, its weight.

  4. Tune into your breath. You could visualise an image like the one below if that helps.

  5. Be kind to your wandering mind. Bring it back to breath when it strays.

  6. Invite the holy spirit to fill you. Breath him in on the in-breath, and breathe out fear, anxiety, all that is not him, on the out breath.

  7. Stay here for a minute or two. Or 10 if you can manage.
